During a hurricane

If you live in an area that is prone to damage, evacuate if need to. It is unsafe to remain at home, even though that’s where we feel the safest.

•       Stay in tune with local and national alerts

•       Stay away from windows and glass doors

•       Always stay inside until you have received confirmation that the hurricane has passed

•       If you have lost power, keep the refrigerator closed to delay the spoilage of foods

•       If you have a generator, ensure that you read the instructions before use.

•       Beware of water entering your home

After a hurricane

The hurricane might be over, but that doesn't mean that you are in the clear.  It is best to take precautions if you live in flooded areas, trees hanging on power lines, and debris in the street.

Follow these steps to stay safe:

•       Stay out of flooded water

•       If you were evacuated return home after you were given the clear to do so

•       Never use a wet electrical device

•       Stay away from power lines

•       Take care of any wounds or injuries

•       Drink clean water

•       Clean up your home/any damages
